Thread: Trados 2007 and 2009 TMs

Hi all, do you know if Trados 2007 TMs can be used with Trados 2009? If so, what is the process to import them?

Hi Andrea,

Yes they can be used, but have to convert them to an SDLTM first. There are two ways to do this.

The first is to upgrade from your TMW using Tools - Upgrade Translation Memories.

The second is to create a new SDLTM through the Translation Memories View (File - New - Translation Memory) and then import your 2007 Translation Memory as a TMX.

About the first option, the Upgrade Translation Memories... is it completely necessary to have both Trados versions installed in my PC? Because that way did not work for me :S

Hi,

Yes, you must have both versions installed to upgrade rather than import. This means version SDL Trados 2007 Suite build 8.3.0.863 and preferably SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP2. The Suite is the most important build here though.

Can you describe what happened when you tried to do this?
