Thread: How can you split a ttx file?

I have a tight deadline for a project and need to split a large ttx file for several translators to work simultaneously. Can a ttx file be spit? If not, can you think of other ways where many translators can translate just a part of a ttx file?

It is possible to split a ttx file, yes, since it has a very simple xml structure. But there are implications. For example any full matches between different sections would be lost. Maybe there are other implications too, I'm not really an expert on Trados (yet).

I don't know if you've seen my posts in this thread: TTX structure

The text between the "<Raw>" tags is what needs to be split in as many files as you want. Then in each of these you need to add everything above the "<Raw>" and below the "</Raw>". It can be done with a simple text editor. Of course it can be automated. When I make a script for this I'll post it here.

It is accessible to breach a ttx file, yes, back it has a actual simple xml structure.It can be done with a simple argument editor. Of advance it can be automated. When I accomplish a Software for this I'll column it here.

If I had the chance to slplit the original file and the create the ttx I would go that way!

I'd go with Ignaciog on this one. Makeing changes directly from the source file before send it to the Tag Editor is the best choice if you are trying to avoid any "special surprises" when you try to clean the document.
