An .eml file is usually a formated "E-mail" from programs like Outlook and Thunderbird.
Is a way to store them in your PC. Outside of the storage file also known as the .PST File from Outlook.
If you received an .eml you can open it with such programs.

About the best way to translate them is exporting it to PDF or HTML.
As a matter of fact when any mail client software opens an email it does it as Html or text based.

A little note, if the email doesn't have images/photos or the formatting isn't very specific you can also export it as only text based. like an .xml or .htm

Crystal clear! I'll go with HTML this time (it contains images)

What if it does have images or charts mixed in with the text? Which option is best in that case?
And, can you then save it as .eml/.pst again, or is that no longer an option? (Do you think it would even matter, nabylm?)

You can make it into a .eml, but it wouldn't be the same.
You'd have to send it in html to yourself and then you can save it as a .eml or store it in your .pst.

To clarify, you can't turn a .eml into a .pst, think it of like an eml is a photocopy in a sheet of paper, and the pst as the drawer or folder where it is.

If you need it to be just perfect like the same email you'd need the help of an expert programmer to edit the eml that has the original data with the one you sent to yourself.
