Hi Adam!
As far as I know, Quark don't resolve font ligatures from Nepali so texts will appear with errors. Hope that helps
regards
Santiago
Hi Santiago,
Thanks for confirming that! Does that mean that the best way to provide the document in Nepali would be to recreate it in InDesign?
You´re right Adam. I had to recreate the documents in Indesign when I needed to deliver projects translated in nepali
Adam, please notice that Nepali and some other indian or arabic languages are not supported in Indesign by default. You need to enable them in order to resolve the funny ligatures you are talking about
Okay. So if the files can't be created in Quark or InDesign what program do you use for these types of languages that have a lot of design work?
Adam, files CAN be created in Indesign but you need to manually set the World Ready Composer Paragraph option to see the Nepali texts propperly.
I understand. So in that case we can recreate Quark files in Sugar for Nepali and other languages that Quark does not support. Are there any languages that can not be recreated in InDesign?
Hi Adam, there are some specific languages like Karen or Khmer that are very tricky so you have to be very careful when editing them. And obviously, Indd doesn't have diccionaries for these kind of languages.
Hi Santiago, I see. However, it's not necessary that InDesign has the dictionary for that language to be able to create the InDesign file? Can any language can be used in InDesign without the dictionary? I'm guessing that only means that you don't have spell check available or are there other draw backs to not having the dictionary for the language available?
