How to use the RECOSOFT tool in Indesign?
HI,
Do you know how to use the RECOSOFT tool in Indesign?
I heard it's a stunning tool! It converts any pdf file into Indesign (.indd or .idml), creating both Links and Fonts folders. Apparently it works better for pdfs that originally come from Indesign files....
:)
Re: How to use the RECOSOFT tool in Indesign?
That sounds great! But what about the quality of the Indesign file? Can you send it for translation without any kind of preparation?
Re: How to use the RECOSOFT tool in Indesign?
I'd rather not. It would be like sending a converted file you generated doing a "save as".... you get section breaks, line breaks,etc... and when you try to download the translation, everything is messed up.
I am wondering if this recosoft converted file is of any use for a DTPer: would he use it and "prepare" it, or would he just recreate the whole file from zero?
Re: How to use the RECOSOFT tool in Indesign?
Also, I think the links exported by the tool are only in low resolution, which is useless if you have to edit images in photoshop or Illustrator.

Hi Nabyl,
Yes, it's a great tool that converts back to indd PDF files originally created in Indesign.
The quality definition of the images depends on the PDF quality. If the file was created in HiRes you will probably get images in high resolution. If not...
Regarding fonts, If you don't have the source fonts installed in your system, Recosoft will change them for some others. Anyway, you can change some settings in the font usage
Hope it helps buddy!

I wonder if you can install RECOSOFT for other programs, like Illustrator or so.
Do any of you know?

Hi Eidji,
You donīt need any special software to convert PDFs to Illustrator. You can open them directly.
In fact if PDF file was exported with Illustrator edit capabilities you will be able to handle it like a .ai file

Recosoft has also tools to convert from ID to Office and PDF to Office. But the best solution is PDF2Indd to me

Is there any program like "RECOSOFT" for Quark?
Re: How to use the RECOSOFT tool in Indesign?
Actually, there's an extension called PDF2DTP that converts PDF files to Quark and Indd
