    Are you sure of the spelling? Could it be "Premio"?

    Premio = prize, jackpot, reward, premium

    Se llama proemio al preludio de un canto, exordio de un discurso o preámbulo de una obra. Es un término cercano al de prólogo.

    I would use "preámbulo" but it depends on your context.

    Jworley, it certainly means the beginning or opening of something like text, song, play, etc...prolog, introduction, preface, prelude, preamble

    You might have the correct word in "preamble" depending on the context (as denielad says).
