Buenos días a todos,
Quisiera pedirles vuestra ayuda. Al traducir un documento de sucesión hereditaria encontré la frase "ante usted", que es la que se usa para dirigirse a un juez. Al buscar alguna equivalente, pude hallar "in front of you", aunque no estoy muy seguro de que sea la correcta.

Creo que seria "before you" pero no estoy seguro sin mas contexto. ¿Puede proveer la oración completa?

Con respecto a la redacción legal, hay frases ya acuñadas tanto en español como en inglés. Suelen ser solemnidades legales.
ES: ...ante usted con el debido respeto comparecemos y decimos...

Yes. A less formal way of saying it is "... in front of... ( the judge )." but that would not appear in a legal document.
Off topic but this reminds me of an old book/movie titled Two Years Before the Mast by Richard Henry Dana Jr., published in 1840. "Before the mast" refers to old sailing ships and the sailors who went to sea and sailed "before" the wind.

It's precisely that, Vicente! 'Before you' implies that you are in front of a difficult decision taken by a person with more authority (the strong wind). It's like a storm with strong winds!
