    Hola PIM:

I'll respond in English because I can offer my explanation better.

Post is a centuries old word which referred to delivery of announcements, news, mail, etc.

I have no proof but it wouldn't surprise me if it originated from placing things of interest literally on a post in a village or town.

I also suppose that's where our postal service got it's name. In the US and UK we post letters, i.e., send them by mail. So it evolved that we used the term generically to mean that something we want others to see is posted. We post things in newspapers, on walls, on the internet, in forums, on the refrigerator, on posts in the street, wherever we want or hope that others, including ourselves, see them. We even have the little sticky note paper called Post It.

I really don't think you run the risk of misusing the term as long as you keep in mind that it is to be seen by others. When you post something you are making it public, so to speak, although its publication might be limited to those who you want to see it.

I hope that's what you were asking PIM
