    Default Spanish for "tearing through"

    Hola,

    Estuve trabajando con una traducción para un zoológico, y encontré esto: "Video Surfaces of a Rare Florida Panther Tearing Through an Audubon Sanctuary"
    Esta es la traducción que conseguí: "Aparece video de rara pantera de Florida que irrumpe en un santuario de Audubon".
    Tengo dos preguntas:
    1/ "Rara" para "Rare" suena correcto?
    2/ Para" Tearing through", pensé en "destrozar" o "destruir".

    Que opinan?

    Inasmuch as "tearing through" in this context means running wildly through the sanctuary as in, "the kids were tearing through the house", what about corriendo violentamente?

    Hi Vicente, in the video, the panther isn't really "running wildly", but is building its own path breaking things here and there. Maybe "...que se abre el camino...", what do you think?

    AH, OK nablym...haha...so he was literally tearing through the jungle.

    Some of the definitions of romper are to cut through, smash through, smash down, break down ...etc.

    Maybe romper ... rompiendo el monte para hacer un sendero...que opinas?

    Romper sounds too extreme i think. Destrozar sounds more accurate to me, but again, I'm not a native spanish speaker. A spanish translator told me "...que se abre el camino haciendo destrozos..."
    I feel like giving up with that one, none of the translations I got were good.

    Let me check a little further before you give up.


    P.S. OK. A native speaking friend agrees that destrozar will work.

    Other ideas: if you insert "ripping" in place of tearing then "que se rasga a través del santuario" or "fue rasgando un camino a través del santuario"
