La vida no tiene ese color / que se presiente de lejos
Hola!,
"La vida no tiene ese color / que se presiente de lejos"
Do either of these phrases have colloquial meanings in Spanish? That is, meanings beyond how they are translated directly? Any problems with this translation:
Life does not have that color / that is eyed from afar
Thanks for the help!

Ehhh.. That actually sound like a song...
And if the phrase has another meaning I guess only the writer could tell it.
Re: La vida no tiene ese color / que se presiente de lejos
In this case, the verse you mention, doesn't constitute a known saying in Spanish. At least not one I’m familiar with, but functionally, it basically conveys the same idea as the phrase “Grass is always greener on the other side”.
Life has a certain color form afar , but once you “get there”, once you experience that moment you have fantasized so much about, it turns to be quite different to what you expected it would be.
It sort of reminds me of Lennon's "Life is what happen's when you're busy making other plans"...
So I guess in these terms your translation works perfectly fine.

Yes..the author is not alive so unfortunately I cannot ask her.

Darn, hate when that happens... Have you tried a Ouija? Heheh Joke. joke... Actually, in spanish thats the literal meaning.. Can't help you further than that.
