    Yes, an "it" place can be used to describe a place that everyone must see, although I have seen it in writing more than in everyday conversation. The way I interpret it, "it" refers to the place as THE destination, THE place to go. Hope it helps!

    "in-places" is also used to describe a cool place, where all the cool kids go Both are equally used.

    "trendy places" sounds a lot like what I would say! or I would say this
    place is very in right now.
