Default Spanish is the 2nd official language in USA

I know that in New York, the Spanish language has been declared the 2nd official language of the city...Does any one know it this resolution applies to other cities in the States?

    Hi Sabrina,
im not sure by city, but im sure Miami is up there, if its not the first language, as well as Los Angeles. Acutally the US as a country has no official language, although it is understood as English. There was a study that said by 2020 (ish) Spanish would be the most spoken language in the US. Anyone else hear this?

The town of El Cenizo, Texas, made Spanish its official language last year, but I haven't heard of anything else being done officially.

Default More and more bilingual schools...

I know there´s a lot more attention now to the latin community in schools, like substitute teachers for latin students, more teacher-parent meetings, etc.

a good thing that the latin community is being more taken care of now... specially now with all the election stuff.

    Hi AnaLaura,
There are also all Spanish speaking elementary schools in some major cities. I think its a great option for parents who want their child to be bilingual. Spanish in school, English at home.

Also, many kids come to the US not speaking any English and its a good option for them to adjust more easily, maybe even if they just go one year. They will learn English in their daily life and then they can switch over to English schools.
