I associated with many kids from the Rio Grande City valley growing up. It's a word used mostly by them in a bad way. It sounds exactly like our word for a "whoxx" The "J" is like our "h" and of course, the "w" in English isn't pronounced in the Eng. I've heard it used in combo with two other words to complete the expression. I can't say them here, but if he is from that area, then yes, he was upset with her about something. (if you still can't figure out what I'm trying to spell,,, it is a woman who sleeps around a lot, but nowadays some men are just as fitting of the expression.)
In my native Argentina we sometimes used that as a polite way to avoid using "jodida" which in slang means someone with a strong temperament and difficult to be around.
Hi Gentle:
Once again we find that words have different in meanings to people depending on where they are from.
I've never heard "jodida" used to describe a person but it is used as slang in Mexico to describe something worn down or in ruined condition. Like an old house that is nothing but a dump...que jodida!
I found it interesting to reread this thread that was started back in 2008. The original poster sort of disappeared while we discussed "jota" among ourselves. That used to happen quite often and we used to have some great discussions and debates.
Have a great weekend my friend!
vicente
I believe what he meant by calling her a jota is meant derogatorily and if it's the female version of joto which is a derogatory term (fag) for a gay man then it would mean the feminine equivalent!
