    Un billón is
    1,000,000,000,000

    Very descriptive. So:
    "un billón"= a thousand billion
    one billion= "mil millones" (a thousand million)

    Yes, you could also call it a trillion

    I found some article about how it's different between USA and UK, but haven't found one about USA and Spanish speaking countries ..
