    Default ll Pronunciation

I was studying voseo on the internet trying to learn a little Spanish my beautiful Mexican wife doesn't know (just to tease her) and I came across a website with pronunciation. The vos pronunciations were as I expected but when the reader pronounced vos llamás, the "ll" was pronounced as "sh". Does anyone know if this is specific to a region. We have a friend from Honduras who uses voseo but pronounces the "ll" the way I was taught in school (like an "y"). Any ideas?

AS far as I know, Argentinians pronounce the ll as sh.

In Spain the ll is pronounced, although it varies a little from place to place, like the y.

    Thanks Exx,

By the way, why do you use that wretched French quote. Le Ménagier should have been hung by his dangling participles.

That's correct my friend. In Argentina we pronounce "y" as "Sh" and "LL" as "sh" as well

Actually, I think some regions of Argentina use this pronunciation.
Generally the nothern regions pronouce a much softer "ll" and "y", and it ends up sounding like "i", like "iuvia", "io", etc.

Oh, how interesting. I thought the "ll" was pronounced like the "sh" all over Argentina.

I used to think Spanish was wonderfully easy because, unlike English, every letter has only one pronunciation. Little did I know. Thank you all for the replies.
