    Default where to request documents?

I don’t need anything translated yet, but does anyone know where I can request a copy of a death certificate from Caracas, Venezuela? I’ve been looking at websites like this http://www.caracas.gob.ve/ , http://www.alcaldiamayor.gob.ve/ and I haven’t found anything- mainly because I don’t speak Spanish. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Hi Celtic. I live in Caracas. If the death certificate in question was authenticated at the LibertadorMunicipality, your best option would be to get a certified copy from the Main Registry (Registro principal) located at the “Urdaneta Avenue”. If it belongs to the MirandaState, you would have to either get a copy at the Main Registry in Los Teques, or go to the Prefect’s office or Mayor’s Office that issued the certificate. However, if you want that copy for legalization purposes, don’t waste any time and go straight to the corresponding main registry; because those are the only copies that the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Justice will accept for legalization.

    Hope this information helps

Hebe, that definitely helps, but I'm still confused. I don't know what is meant by LibertadorMunicipality or MirandaState. I have a photocopy of the certificate, but I need a certified copy to get an apostille for. There are two seals at the top of the page on the left "Caracas, Con Chavez un solo gobierno" and on the right "Caracas Alcaldia Mayor". The title of the document is "Jefatura Civil El Recreo."

Celtic, if it it was issued by the Jefatura el Recreo it belongs to the Libertador Municipality and the correspoding Main Registry would be the one located in Avenida Urdaneta. By the way I know a person who normally runs those errands for a fee. I can get you in contact with her, if you need her services.

    Regards
    Hebe

Thanks, Hebe. Would you know where I can find a mailing address for the Main Registry? Do they have a website?

Right now it seems like the only thing to do is call. What are the odds someone where would speak English?
